There is one exception when it comes to dressing near Niagara Falls, specifically at Terrapin Point on Goat Island (U.S. side) or along the Niagara River Parkway (Canadian side), where air currents can carry mist from the falls onto land. It is not a bad idea to have some mosquito repellant on as the sun starts to set, especially at Terrapin Point. Walking Paths and Hiking Trails

During your trip to The Falls, you may be walking quite a bit. Walking on the paved walking paths all day, you will need comfortable shoes. Many areas around the falls are wet and slippery.

Hiking in the Niagara Gorge on foot is a lot of fun. Make sure to bring comfortable shoes or boots for all-day walking. If you decide to tackle some of the hiking trails along the gorge, dress appropriately in hiking gear and wear sturdy shoes or boots for the more rugged paths that go into the gorge.
